I created Don’t Forget Your Brain after becoming increasingly aware of how much of my own day involved consuming information rather than actively working with it.

I use technology, social media and AI, and I value what they make possible. But I also began to notice how easy it had become to reach for an answer before trying to remember, fill spare moments with content and move quickly from one idea to the next.

I often read books, but I found myself missing my university days when I was challenged, encouraged to think critically and use different parts of my thinking more deliberately. I was craving something physical, not another screen, app or podcast, but something that could sit on a table and ask something of me each day.

As I researched, I found nothing that would take me offline and as I spoke to other people it became clear that the feeling was not mine alone.

Don’t Forget Your Brain grew out of that gap. What began as an idea developed through months of research into the ways we learn, think and process information, drawing on established ideas from psychology, behavioural science and learning research.

At its heart, the idea has always been the same: not to reject technology, but to make space for more active thought alongside it.
